Update
Rather than renovating, we have decided that rebuilding is best for our church. Phase 1 of demolishing the building has been completed.
Original Post
Due to extreme weather conditions in April 2021, there were severe water damages to our church building. While trying to clean up the aftermath, we had to stop completely because hazardous materials were present. Testing confirmed asbestos, and exposure to asbestos may cause serious health problems. Our church building has been deemed unsafe so worship services and other church meetings have been held elsewhere. We are in the middle of working with our insurance to help us but it is taking longer than expected. We appreciate our conference, the Alaska Conference, and Anchorage Junior Academy for accommodating us but we are praying and hoping to be back in our church building sooner rather than later.
As a church, we are still raising funds quarterly for our church building so that when we are ready for the next step we will be prepared and be able to move forward.
